We are introducing a Consultant Spotlight Q&A Series that highlights our consultants across each of the three divisions within the Compass Associates brand. The first article of this series will be introducing Ani Abello from the Specialist Care division. 

What is your role and how long have you worked at Compass?

I joined Compass Associates nearly eight years ago and in that time have worked my way up to being the Divisional Manager for the Specialist Care division. I joined the company as a Recruitment Consultant which was also my first job after finishing university.

What markets do you cover?

The markets I typically cover are Mental Health, Allied Healthcare Professions and Complex Care settings. Most recently I have been working closely with Children’s Care and Education settings.

Within these roles, I generally cover mid-clinical management and lead to senior roles; examples include Hospital Director, Therapy Services Manager and Quality Lead.

Advice for job seekers

I would recommend putting yourself out there and making each opportunity count, whether it’s an informal MS Teams meeting or an interview. It’s a chance to make a good impression with senior leaders in the Health and Social Care sector and market your skills that you have worked so hard for over years.

Also, it’s good to remember that as much as you are interviewing for the job, you are also interviewing them as a prospective employer.

Current changes you foresee within the sector?

We have found that Care at Home and Community provisions are steadily growing, enabling people to live the lives they wish to have or stay with their families.

In terms of recruitment and attraction, the Health and Social Care sphere is always booming – we find that the organisations that attract the best talents are the ones that are more flexible and sensitive to the needs of a candidate driven market (flexibility in salaries, hours, work-life balance agendas and benefits).

A bit about you outside of work

Outside of work, I love going for long country walks with my husband and our yellow Labrador Retriever called Lola.
