Compass Associates supports World Wellbeing Week with workplace wellbeing
As this week is World Wellbeing Week and as wellbeing is something that is incredibly important to us here at Compass Associates, we thought we’d highlight some of the initiatives we’ve implemented, as part of the wider Compass business, over the past year as part of our wider Community & Wellbeing initiatives.
We see workplace wellbeing as something that should be implemented as a long-term commitment to support everyone at Compass Associates every day of the year.
CRS running club
Almost a year since we initially set up the Compass Running Club as a monthly initiative. January saw us introduce our Community and Wellbeing initiatives with January focusing on fitness which saw our running club being moved to twice a week and the introduction of a 3 KM route as well as the initial 5 KM route to help beat the January blues. This proved incredibly popular with all Compass employees so we moved our running club schedule from once a month to once a week.
Now more than six months later, we still have a regular team of runners that are keen to run in all weather for their own mental wellbeing and fitness. We recently rewarded them with a MyZone fitness belt. This works in a similar way to a smartwatch and is a great way for our runners to track their fitness and health goals.
Fruit offering
2021 saw us introduce a free fruit policy where we provide a variety of free fruit every day for all Compass employees. This helps contribute towards our five-a-day intake for both our physical and mental wellbeing.
Blood donations for World Blood Day
14th June marks World Blood Day where people globally come together to recognise the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusions. Knowing how hard it is to find appointments when trying to contribute to this life-saving cause, we are supporting anyone that works within the CRS brands to book and attend blood donation appointments during work hours.
Mental health first aiders
Mental and physical wellbeing is incredibly important to us here at Compass. So we invested in training various team members across all brands to become mental health first aiders. While our mental health first aiders are not mental health medical professionals, they are trained to listen and spot the early signs of mental ill-health in others. They are taught to confidently signpost someone to appropriate support, both internal and external, and they are equipped to deal with emergencies too. Our mental health first aiders are also responsible with organising regular wellbeing events across the business.
Financial Advice Services
Another initiative we introduced last year was financial advise services to help provide advice and support for any financial worries Compass employees might have with the current cost of living crisis. We have an agreement in place with a financial advisor who will come in for 0.5 days each quarter who staff can schedule meetings with to discuss investments and other ways to save etc. financial planning matters such as pensions, investing for children and estate planning are their particular areas of strength.
