As the Great South Run was taking place again this year for the first time since Covid, some of the Compass team were eager to take part as we have done in previous years.

For 2021, we had 13 runners taking part – our biggest running team ever! Our running team decided to set a fundraising target of £1500 and chose The Honeypot Children’s Charity as our charity to fundraise for.

About The Honeypot Children’s Charity

Honeypot is a national young carers charity. Since 1996, the charity has been working to enhance the lives of young carers aged 5-12 years by providing respite breaks and ongoing outreach support.

Honeypot operates, in the UK nationwide, to give young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home. It provides a safe, nurturing environment where children at risk can develop their full potential.

As a team, we chose Honeypot as not only is it a charity with a cause close to some of our hearts, but it also relates to the sector that we focus on recruiting for.

The Great South Run 2021

The day started a little overcast with a slight chill in the air. However, as the day went on, it progressed into a warm and sunny day thus making perfect running conditions. All of our Compass running team completed the run at varying times but we’re so proud of them all for completing it!

The Compass team celebrated their achievements with a drink and some food afterwards at Southsea’s Scarlett Tap.

Head of Fundraising, Jodie Kemp comments on the Compass team’s achievement:

“It was so good to see the Great South Run return this year, and our team of Compass Runners did us all proud!

Running for a local charity, The Honeypot Children’s Charity, which provides respite breaks for young carers, our team had a great day with some personal best running times and some huge personal achievements!

We raised over £1500 for this amazing charity, and it was great to so see so many people come together in support on the day.

Well done team!”
