Consultant Spotlight Q&A with Adam Brenton
We are introducing a Consultant Spotlight Q&A Series that highlights our consultants across each of the three divisions within the Compass Associates brand. The fifth article in this series will be introducing Adam Brenton from the Specialist Care division.
What is your role and how long have you worked at Compass?
I have been at Compass now for 6.5 years which really has flown by! Initially joining to oversee and lead the Manchester Office, a team of 3 we now have 20 consultants encompassing our Corporate Service division of which I am also responsible for.
What markets do you cover?
My personal specialism is senior appointments across the entirety of our Specialist Care division here at Compass Associates. This encompasses everything from mental health, neurological and substance misuse through to adult social care and specialist education. Typical appointments range from Quality & Operations Directors through to Hospital Managers. In addition to this, I will also lead on senior corporate hires ranging from senior HR appointments to IT, Finance and Property.
- Advice for job seekers
- Be active on LinkedIn and make your profile more visible, by selecting ‘open for work’
- Utilise a reliable head-hunter – one which you trust and you feel is critically well networked and extremely knowledgeable within the area you wish to seek work
- Be realistic with your expectations. Your recruiter should advise whether your demands are attainable or not.
Current changes you foresee within the sector?
Whilst there will always be a demand for hospital CAMHS & Acute beds, more and more supported living services are being commissioned providing excellent opportunities for registered managers, regional managers in particular – this is a growth area for many residential providers and hospital groups at present who are keen to offer ‘step down services’.
Career highlight within Compass
I am really fortunate to have so many career highlights at Compass. Being promoted to Director was a pinnacle moment for me and something I had aspired to achieve the moment I entered the industry. Outside of this, I am particularly proud of how far our Manchester office has come in what seems a relatively short space of time. Its been incredibly rewarding to see so many consultants thrive in our environments which has been critical to us growing from just 3 consultants and a small office space to 20 consultants and a large open-plan office in the heart of the city centre.
A bit about you outside of work
I am a keen golfer and cyclist but most of all a father to my daughter Ottilie who is just 13 months old. She is now starting to find her feet as we speak. Wish me luck!
