Our Consultant Spotlight Q&A Series highlights our consultants across each of the three divisions within the Compass Associates brand. The latest article in this series introduces Louise Holmes from the Healthcare division.

What is your role and how long have you worked at Compass?

I have been with Compass Associates for 2 years. Starting out as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant and I’ve progressed to now being a Principal Consultant within the Surgical Hospitals division.

What markets do you cover?

I cover the Private Acute Healthcare market, placing nurses and theatre staff in Private Surgical Hospitals, Clinics and Community settings.

Advice for job seekers

Know your motivations! In a candidate led market, where there are more jobs than applicants, it is important to narrow down the options to ensure you are getting the right role for you. Are you money motivated, looking for a better work/life balance or career development and training opportunities?

Deciding what is most important to you and what you are willing to sacrifice, will greatly aid your search and keep you from getting overwhelmed or distracted.

Current changes you foresee within the sector?

I predict more private contracts with the NHS. The pandemic demonstrated the need and success of NHS partnerships with the private sector, with Independent providers shouldering much of the surgical backlog (with no sign of slowing down). We are now seeing a similar trend within diagnostics, with more and more private diagnostic centres opening to aid the ever-growing NHS waiting list.

Career highlight within Compass

Winning the 2022/2023 Delivery of Service Award. My accomplishments have always been recognised at Compass, but this award was definitely a highlight!

A bit about you outside of work

I love being outdoors and am a big fan of any water sport, particularly paddleboarding and kayaking. I also love a good road-trip and recently drove 10 hours to Scotland for a girls trip!
