Job Title: Art Therapist – SEMH – Specialist Education

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 (DOE)

Hours: Full-time, permanent (Monday to Friday)

Location: London (on-site – covering 2 schools)

Accreditation: HCPC

Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled Art Therapist to join a leading therapeutic school that has been transforming the lives of young people for over 12 years. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment where your artistic expertise will directly impact vulnerable students who have experienced profound trauma and adversity.

Their therapeutic schools provides a nurturing space for children and teenagers,who often struggle to thrive in mainstream education. You will play a crucial role in helping them express their emotions and build resilience through creative art practices.

Role Responsibilities:

  • As an Art Therapist, your expertise will be essential in delivering effective therapeutic support. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing one-to-one and group art therapy sessions focused on emotional expression and regulation.
  • Conducting assessments to identify the needs of students and developing tailored intervention plans.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and educators, to support the overall wellbeing of students.
  • Facilitating art workshops that promote social interaction and emotional healing.
  • Writing assessments and progress reports for annual reviews.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A formal degree in Art Therapy and active registration with the HCPC
  • Experience working with children and adolescents facing emotional and mental health challenges.
  • Newly qualified art therapists with an active HCPC are encouraged to apply; a focus on trauma-informed care is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a creative, flexible approach to therapy.
