The Candidate

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Pre-Assessment Nurse to join a Flagship Hospital. You will be responsible for making sure that each patient receives a comprehensive and quality service, ensuring that they are informed and educated throughout their journey. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an advanced level of assessment skills, used to determine whether each patient is fit to proceed to surgery. You will be responsible for assessing patients undergoing a range of surgeries including Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, Cardiac and General Surgery.

As a key part of the patient’s journey, you must demonstrate a caring and supportive manner with a passion for interacting with patients, relatives and colleagues. Excellent communication skills will be crucial in order to provide the highest level of patient care, aligning with the clinical values.

This is a full-time position consisting of 37.5 hours per week, which has a highly desirable shift pattern worked between Monday-Friday, with no weekends currently required. You will either work a 4 or 5 day working week, dependent on the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-assessment reviews for patients undergoing various surgeries
• Provide clear, empathetic communication with patients, answering questions and ensuring their understanding
• Assess medical history and determine suitability for surgery
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
• Maintain high standards of patient confidentiality and care, adhering to clinical best practice

Requirements

• Qualified Nurse with NMC registration
• Right to Work in the UK
• Previous experience within a pre-assessment setting
• Passion for high quality care
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• A proactive, motivated approach to work
