This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a brilliant practice as we are looking for a confident and personable RVN to lead a friendly and supportive team. The site boasts 2.5 vets, 2 RVNS, 1 SVN and a client care team.

It is a modern site with new facilities, separate waiting areas for dogs and cats, in addition to full surgical and dental facilities, x-rays, ultrasound, ECG, and in-house blood testing.

The nursing team are close-knit and collaborative and are involved in all aspects nursing including schedule 3, dentistry and anaesthesia.

As the Lead Nurse, your role is key to the business’ ability to provide a high level of clinical standards. Approximately 95% of the role will be clinical, with 5% for administrative tasks.

We are ideally looking for 1-2 years’ experience post RCVS registration. Previous line manager experience would also be beneficial, but we are open to supporting an RVN looking to take their first step into a leadership role.

The Lead Nurse will ensure that patients are managed as effectively as possible from a nursing perspective and to work enthusiastically with your team you will help maintain a happy, efficient working environment whilst providing outstanding patient and client care.

Shift pattern:

Hours are full time, 42-hour week made up of 5 x 8 hour shifts (8.30AM – 4.30PM).

You will also be expected to work 1 Saturday shift per month (and gain a weekday off).

There is also a 1 in 9 Sundays at St Albans Hospital which is paid extra.

The nursing team also participate in an EIN rota (1 in 14 days) offering support to the emergency OOH’s team at St Albans if needed.
