Overview

Compass Associates are working with a respectable Company that specialise in SEN schools for Children ages 4-11 with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), as well as complex needs which will means it will be a challenging school. The brand new service is due to open in early 2025. The team are seeking for a motivated teacher who is ready to learn and seeks to achieve the best for their co-workers and students alike. Naturally passionate educators, the whole team strive to exceed expectations at every opportunity.

Key duties will include:

  • To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
  • To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • To maintain and use short-, medium- and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for everyone.
  • To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
  • To maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.
  • To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.

Location

The school is near Hitchin and is commutable from Luton, Watford, Stevenage, Leighton Buzzard, Aylesbury, Enfield, Milton Keynes and Bedford.

Criteria

  • QTS, QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Knowledge / experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH, complex needs and PDA profile
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that are challenging
  • Experience of continuous provisions, play based learning, engagement model/pre national curriculum stages

Interview process

2 Stage process:

  • 1st stage –Teams call
  • 2nd stage – Face to face at another school, which will consist of a presentation (e.g. lesson plan for observations of teaching a classroom)
